CAPE HORN & USHUAIA, ARGENTINA

Here are two maps of where we have been and where we are now.  The Antarctica peninsula is where we were for 4 days sailing all around the different sounds and passages.  Then yesterday we headed north thru Bransfield Strait to Drake Passage which is where Cape Horn is located.  We had rough seas just before we got to Cape Horn and then the wind died down so our passage through that area was simply fantastic.  See pictures below.IMG_2801

Today we arrived in Ushuaia at 7 am and took a train at 7:30 up to the Tierra Del Fuego NP which is just up to the border of Argentina and Chile.  We then came back to Ushuaia for a bit of shopping.  We are now on our way north thru the Beagle Passage.  The weather is fantastic and the scenery is beautiful.  You can see Cape Horn at the bottom of the above map.

This picture is for David.  This sailboat is in the bay and came from far away to this town.  I wish I knew where they were headed.

This picture below was taken at about 6 am this morning of the town of Ushuaia.

Ushuaia has flowers that were planted for this summer season that they are just about finished with as fall is beginning to settle in.

The yacht on the right side belongs to Paul Allen of Microsoft fame.  It is huge and beautifully maintained on the outside.

This picture is of the mountains on the right side of Ushuaia with part of the town below.

We are now sailing up the Beagle Passage so there will be more later when we get out of the mountains and we have satellite

coverage again.

Bye for now……
